This is long overdue, but I decided to write it anyway.
Armen and I got engaged in September of 2021. We decided we wanted to get married on December 9, 2021. 12-09-20-21. These are the jersey numbers of some of our favorite basketball players: Bruce Bowen, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan. It made for a really good story. Problem was, that left us only a little over 2 months to plan a wedding! That’s when we turned to HM Events.
We weren’t sure about hiring a coordinator at first. We felt we were organized and meticulous enough to take care of the logistics ourselves. However, with that date looming over us—we were too stubborn to pick another—we had to acknowledge that we needed the help of a professional.
AND I AM SO GLAD WE DID!
Honestly, I would have pulled all of my hair out if I had to deal with all the issues that came up by myself. Ms. Hope and her team helped us plan, prioritize, and address all the details—big and small. They were efficient and reacted quickly to change.
Let me give you an example: It rained on the day of the wedding. We had a feeling it might. We booked trusses just in case. What we weren’t prepared for, was one side giving in because of the weight of the collected rainwater. The tables in that section were soaked.
Now, at this point I would have thrown a screaming fit… had I known about it. I only heard about this secondhand from one of my bridesmaids but apparently Ms. Hope just said, “Give me one hour.”
In that hour, they extended the cocktails, brought in fresh table cloths, wiped down the tables and chairs, secured the trusses, redid the décor, and worked with the rest of our amazing suppliers to troubleshoot.
All the while I was at home, blissfully unaware. At one point I asked if the guests were upset that we were running late. They showed me a video of the cocktail area with all our guests having a good time. Some of our suppliers even came over to the house with pizza, prosecco, and coffee to make sure we didn’t get hungry.
Also, I have to mention Ms. Jayne, the attendant assigned to me. Ms. Jayne handled my anxiety and all my episodes so well over the days that we worked together. While the rained poured outside, she played SHINee and BTS. We had a little dance party before they called us over to start the ceremony. I had no idea that anything had gone wrong.
Our family, our guests, and Armen and I had a great time. To this day, I am convinced that Ms. Hope is the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella come to life. Ask her for a pumpkin carriage and glass slippers. I wouldn’t be surprised if she goes, “Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!”
All our amazing suppliers!
